Robert Leggington Jr., MD

Dr. Robert B Leggington, Jr., M. D. is a board – certified nephrologist/internist and partner at renal specialist of Houston, PA. Born and raised in Beaumont, Texas to Robert Sr. and Carolyn Leggington, Robert is a graduate of Central Senior High School. There he was an active member in the student council and dedicated community service participant, ultimately honored with the Key to the City of Beaumont after winning the Beaumont Rotary Club’s Service Above Self award.

Upon graduation from high school, he attended Prairie View A&M University where he majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. There he was initiated into the Beta Beta Beta biological honor society ,and was active in many campus activities. His sophomore year he was initiated into the Eta Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Through the fraternity, he helped organize and lead campus blood drives, voter registration initiatives, the Go-to-High-School/Go-to-College youth outreach program, and served as a Cub Scout leader for the local Waller/Prairie View Cub Scout troop. He was also recognized as the 'Brother with the Highest GPA' in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in the state of Texas from 1994 to 1996. He subsequently graduated from Prairie View A&M University in 1996 Magna Cum Laude ,and went on to attend the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he spent the next four years studying the science of medicine.

After graduating from medical school in 2000, he completed a three-year residency in internal medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine. Because of the kidney disease suffered by his best friend, Stephen Dellahoussaye he continued his education and completed a two-year Nephrology fellowship program at the Baylor College of Medicine. In the final months of his fellowship program. He married the love of his life, Jacqueline Haynes Leggington.

Upon completing his fellowship program, he joined Renal specialist Houston, PA where he works primarily out of the Houston Baytown Methodist Hospital beginning in 2005. During his tenure, he has been an active member of the medical staff, participating in various committees, including the Medical Executive Committee, the Multidisciplinary Committee, the Credentialing Committee, the Ethics Committee, and the ICU Committee. Outside of the hospital, he has served in various community outreach programs, educating the public about kidney disease and serving as a panelist for his fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha’s healthcare initiative. Additionally, he was fortunate enough to welcome two beautiful daughters into his life — Robyn Bree (18) and Reagyn Bria Leggington (16) — over the course of this period. As being a father is his greatest accomplishment, he now devotes the majority of his free time to guiding and supporting his two daughters while his wife honorably serves the country as a Colonel in the United States Army.
