The founder of Renal Specialists of Houston, Dr. Barcenas remains an active member of the practice. In addition to his responsibilities with Renal Specialists, Dr. Barcenas serves as the Chief of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital and the Texas Heart Institute.He is a graduate of the University of Nicaragua, and became board-certified in Internal Medicine in 1973 and Nephrology in 1974. Additionally, he holds Fellowship status with the American College of Physicians.
